How to play

  1. Sow your seeds

Tap one of your pits along the bottom. Its seeds are dropped one at a time into the pits that follow, including your store on the right.

  2. Go again, or capture

If your last seed lands in your store, you play again. If it lands in an empty pit of yours, you capture it together with the seeds in the pit opposite.

  3. Fill your store

When one side has no seeds left, the other side keeps its seeds. The bigger store wins.

Quick answers about playing Kalah on Wittlo.

Is Kalah free?

Yes. It is free to play, with no sign-up and nothing to install.

What is Kalah?

A traditional game from the Mancala family, played with seeds in two rows of pits. Many countries have their own versions; this one uses four seeds per pit.

Which way do the seeds go?

Anticlockwise: along your row to the right, into your store, then along the computer's row. Seeds skip the computer's store.

When do I get another turn?

When your last seed lands in your own store.

When does the game end?

When all the pits on one side are empty. The other side then keeps the seeds still in its pits, and the larger store wins.

Is my game saved?

No. A game is quick, so one you leave part-way is not kept.
