How to play
Look at the two words
Each day you get a start word and a target word, like COLD and WARM.
Change one letter
Tap a letter in your word, then type its replacement. Each step must make a real word. COLD, CORD, WORD, WARD, WARM.
Beat par
Par is the fewest steps. Green means you got closer to the target, yellow means no closer, and dark means further away. When you finish you get a card to share that never gives the words away.

How is Chain different from Word Ladder?
Chain is a single daily puzzle with a par, a streak and a card to share. Word Ladder has levels, longer words and unlimited extra puzzles.
What is par?
The fewest steps possible, using any word in the dictionary. Nobody can beat par, so matching it is a great day.
When does the next Chain arrive?
At midnight where you are. The result screen shows a countdown.
Can I take a step back?
Yes. Press Undo. A Hint is available too, and it adds a light bulb to your share card.
