How to play Chain

The daily word puzzle: turn one word into another, changing a single letter at a time.

The rules, step by step

You are given a start word and a target word. They change every day.
Tap a letter in your word, then type the letter you want instead. Each step has to make a real word. You can also just type a letter, and if only one place works it changes for you.
The letter you changed is coloured: green with an up arrow means you got closer to the target, yellow means no closer, and dark with a down arrow means further away.
Reach the target word to finish. Par is the fewest steps possible, using any word in the dictionary, so matching par is a great result.
Press Share to copy a result card for friends. It shows the shape of your path but never the words, so nothing is spoiled.

Think about which letters the target has, and work towards them one at a time.
If a step turns dark, you went further away. Press Undo and try another letter.
A Hint tells you which letter to change, and adds a light bulb to your share card.
