Full rules and tips: how to play Nonogram

  • 5x5, 8x8, 10x10
  • A daily puzzle
  • Hints
  • No guessing needed

How to play

  1. Read the numbers

The numbers beside a row or above a column give the length of each run of filled squares, in order. "3 1" means three filled squares, a gap, then one.

  2. Fill and cross out

Tap a square once to fill it, twice to cross it out when you know it is empty. Crossed squares are only a reminder.

  3. Use logic

Every puzzle can be solved by logic alone. Start with the biggest numbers: a long run in a short line must overlap in the middle.

Quick answers about playing Nonogram on Wittlo.

Is Nonogram free?

What is a nonogram?

A picture logic puzzle, also known as Hanjie or Griddlers. The numbers tell you which squares to fill, and the filled squares make a picture.

Does every puzzle have one answer?

Yes. Every puzzle is built so that logic alone solves it, which also means it has exactly one solution.

Can I get a hint?

Yes. Press Hint and one square is filled or crossed for you. If a square you marked is wrong, the hint points at that first.

Can I print it?

Yes. There is a Print button under the grid.
