How to play Word Search
Find the hidden words in a grid of letters.
The rules, step by step
- The list of words to find is next to the grid.
- Each word is hidden in a straight line. On Easy it goes across or down. On Medium it can also go diagonally. On Hard it can go in any direction, including backwards.
- To mark a word, put your finger or mouse on its first letter and drag to its last letter. Or tap the first letter, then tap the last letter.
- When you are right, the word is highlighted and crossed off the list.
- On a keyboard, press Tab to reach the grid, use the arrow keys to move, press Space on the first letter and press Space again on the last letter.

The words to find are CAT and OWL.
CAT runs across the top row, from the C to the T. OWL runs across the third row.
Tips
- Look for the first letter of a word, then check the squares around it for the second letter.
- Longer words are often easier to spot, because their letters stand out.
- Cross words off as you go, so you can see how many are left.
