How to play Word Guess
Guess the hidden word in six tries. After each guess you are told how close you are.
The rules, step by step
- Choose 4, 5 or 6 letters. A secret word of that length has been picked.
- Type a real word of the right length and press Enter.
- Each letter of your guess is marked. A ● means the letter is in the word and in the right place (blue). A ◆ means the letter is in the word but in a different place (amber). No mark means the letter is not in the word at all.
- Use those clues to make a better guess. You have six tries.
- A new word appears every day, and you can play as many extra words as you like.
An example
The secret word is PLANT. You guess CLAMP.
C: no mark, because there is no C in PLANT.
L: ● in the right place (second letter). A: ● in the right place (third letter).
M: no mark. P: ◆ because there is a P in PLANT, but not in the last place.
Now you know the word has L and A in the middle, and a P somewhere else. PLANT is a good next guess.
Tips
- Start with a word that has several common letters, such as vowels.
- Do not repeat letters you already know are not in the word.
- Your guess has to be a real word. If it is refused, try another.
