How to play Binary Puzzle
Fill the grid with circles and squares using three simple rules. Also known as Takuzu or Binairo.
The rules, step by step
- Every square in the grid holds either a circle or a square. A few are filled in already, to start you off.
- Rule 1: you may not have more than two of the same symbol next to each other, across or down.
- Rule 2: every row and every column must contain the same number of circles and squares.
- Rule 3: no two rows may be exactly the same, and no two columns may be exactly the same.
- Tap a square to cycle between empty, circle and square.
- You never need to guess: every puzzle can be solved by logic. A wrong entry turns red as you go. Press Check to see how you are doing, or Hint to fill in one square.
Where to start
If two circles sit side by side, the squares at both ends of that pair must be squares, or there would be three circles in a row.
If a row already holds its full share of circles, every empty square left in that row must be a square.
Tips
- Begin with the smaller 6 by 6 grid.
- Look for pairs of matching symbols first, and for rows or columns that already have half of one symbol.
- A gap between two matching symbols (for example circle, empty, circle) must be filled with the other symbol.
