How to play Dominoes
The family favourite. Match the dots at the ends of the line and be first to play your last tile.
The rules, step by step
- You and the computer are each dealt seven tiles. The rest are left face down, ready to draw from.
- The player holding the highest double starts. That tile is put down for you.
- On your turn, tap one of your tiles that has the same number of dots as one end of the line. The tiles you can play are outlined in yellow.
- If a tile fits at both ends, the game asks which end you want.
- If none of your tiles fit, press Draw a tile until you pick up one that does. If there is nothing left to draw, you pass.
- Play your last tile and you win the hand. You score the dots left in the other hand. If nobody can move, the hand with fewer dots left scores the difference.
- The first to reach the target score wins. You can choose a short game (50) or a full game (100).
An example
Say the end of the line shows a tile with 4 dots, and you hold a tile with 4 dots on one half and 2 on the other.
Tap that tile. It is added to the line, turned so the 4 touches the 4, and the open end now shows 2.
Tips
- Choose Easy while you learn. Normal plans which numbers to keep.
- Press Hint if you are not sure which tile to play.
- Try to play your tiles with the most dots first. They are worth the most if the computer goes out.
- Keep a mix of numbers in your hand so there is always something you can play.
- There is no timer. Take as long as you like.
