How to play Equation Guess
Like a word guess, but the answer is a true equation. Find it in six tries.
The rules, step by step
- A hidden equation, such as 12+7×3=33, is waiting. Choose a length from 5 to 10 characters.
- Type a guess of that length. Your guess must itself be a true equation: the left side must work out to the number on the right.
- Multiplication and division are worked out before addition and subtraction. Use the × and ÷ keys, or * and / on a keyboard.
- After each guess the tiles change. A blue tile is the right character in the right place. An amber tile is in the equation, but somewhere else.
- You have six guesses. Hard mode makes you reuse every hint you have found.
- There is a new equation every day, and you can practise as much as you like in between.
An example
A good first guess uses a mix of digits and signs, for example 9+8×2=25, to learn which characters appear.
Tips
- Use the first guess to find out which digits and signs appear.
- Remember that the sum must be true: that limits what you can try.
- Start with 6 characters if you are new to it.
