How to play Hangman
Guess the hidden word one letter at a time before the drawing is complete.
The rules, step by step
- The word is shown as a row of blanks, one for each letter. Choose Easy (short words), Medium or Hard (long words).
- Tap a letter on the keyboard shown, or type a letter on your own keyboard.
- If the letter is in the word, it fills in every place it appears. If not, a part is added to the drawing.
- You can make seven wrong guesses. When the drawing is finished, the game is over and the word is shown.
- Fill in every blank before that and you win. Press Hint to reveal one letter, but it costs a life.
An example
For a five-letter word, try common letters first, such as E, A, R, S and T. If E fills the last place, you have _ _ _ _ E, and you can start thinking of words that fit.
Tips
- Start with the vowels, especially E and A, then common consonants like R, S, T, N and L.
- Look at where letters have landed, and think of words that fit the pattern.
- Use a hint only when you are stuck: each one uses up a life.
