How to play Lights Off
Tap a light to flip it and its neighbours, and turn every light off.
The rules, step by step
- The board is a grid of lights, some on and some off.
- Tap a light. It flips, and so do the lights directly above, below and beside it.
- Your aim is to turn every light off.
- Tapping the same light twice cancels out, and the order of your taps does not matter. Only how many times you tap each light counts.
- Every board can be solved. Press Hint to be shown a light that moves you towards the answer, or Restart to go back to the start of the same board.
An example
In a 3 by 3 board, tapping the centre light flips five lights: the centre and the four beside it.
Tips
- Start with the 3 by 3 board.
- Work row by row: turn off the top row by tapping the lights in the row below, then repeat down the board.
- If you get lost, press Restart rather than carrying on. You will not lose the board.
