How to play Mine Field
Uncover every square without a mine. Numbers tell you how many mines are next to them.
The rules, step by step
- Tap a square to uncover it. Your first tap is always safe, and it opens up some space.
- A number shows how many of the eight squares around it hold a mine. An empty square opens its neighbours automatically.
- If you uncover a mine, the game is over. Uncover every square that has no mine to win.
- Mark squares you think hold a mine with a flag. Turn on Flag mode, or right-click, or press F on a square.
- When a number has as many flags next to it as its value, tap the number to open all the other squares around it.
A simple case
A 1 with only one covered square beside it means that square is a mine. A 1 that already has its flag has no more mines: every other covered neighbour is safe.
Tips
- Start from numbers on the edge of what you have uncovered.
- Flag the mines you are sure of. It makes the rest easier to read.
- Press Hint if you are stuck: it points to a square that is safe.
